My favourite albums of the decade.

These are the albums that have pretty much got me through this decade. There's a mixture of "one-hit wonder" albums and albums from bands who have had numerous releases over the years. Of the bands who have had numerous releases I liked, I have nominated what I think was their best album. These albums hold special memories for me because they helped get me through hard spots over the years. I haven't ranked them, they're just listed by year.

  • P.J. Harvey, Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea.
  • Deftones, White Pony.
  • A Perfect Circle, Mer de Noms.
  • Black Eyed Peas, Bridging the Gap. (This is the only album of theirs I have, and predates all their crap.)
  • Eminem, The Marshall Mathers LP.
(I must have been angry this year, since all three albums are pretty heavy.)
  • Lost Prophets, The Fake Sound of Progress.
  • System of a Down, Toxicity.
  • Rob Zombie, The Sinister Urge.
(Just as a point of interest: this was the year I got diagnosed with MS.)
  • Lacuna Coil, Comalies.
  • Morcheeba, Charango.
  • Reno, Thinking About the Good Times.
  • The Sleepy Jackson, Lovers.
  • The Black Keys, thickfreakness.
  • Downsyde, Land of the Giants.
  • Salmonella Dub, One Drop East.
  • Marilyn Manson, The Golden Age of Grotesque.
  • Penumbra, Seclusion.
  • Beastie Boys, To the Five Boroughs.
  • Karnivool, Themata.
(Clearly the best year of the decade for pop music. Also I got married.)
  • Subaudible Hum, Everything You Heard is True.
  • Still Remains, Of Love and Lunacy.
  • Dream Theater, Octavarium.
  • Pendulum, Hold Your Colour.
  • Death Cab For Cutie, Plans.
  • Doves, Some Cities.
  • The Mars Volta, Francis the Mute.
  • Sufjan Stevens, Come On Feel the Illinoise.
  • Franz Ferdinand, Franz Ferdinand.
  • Mercury Rev, The Secret Migration.
  • Wolfmother, Wolfmother.
  • Tool, 10,000 Days.
  • Dragonforce, Inhuman Rampage.
  • Incubus, Light Grenades.
  • Muse, Black Holes and Revelations.
  • Bob Dylan, Modern Times.
  • Ground Components, An Eye for a Brow, A Tooth for a Pick.
  • Arcade Fire, Neon Bible.
  • Polyphonic Spree, The Fragile Army.
  • Nine Inch Nails, Year Zero.
  • The Panics, Cruel Guards.
  • Epica, The Divine Conspiracy.
(I must have been buying older music in 2008 and this year - maybe I'm becoming a tight-ass, since the older it gets the cheaper it is.)
  • Cold War Kids, Loyalty to Loyalty.
  • Hilltop Hoods, State of the Art.
  • Lily Allen, It's Not Me It's You.

Just wondering.....

Who was the idiot who obviously thought they were being funny and/or clever by buying me the Carrie 2 blockmount at the Swancon auction? I want to know so they can come take the thing away. I said at the time that I didn't want it and now it's just adding to the clutter of my life. Yes, the gesture was swell but the swelling has definitely gone down. If they don't want it (which is weird cause they paid for it) then could someone please tell whoever bought it that they're really not as entertaining as they may think they are. Did they buy it cause they thought "well, she likes the first Carrie, and that's not very cool, so I'll buy her the second one cause she obviously has no taste." I'd tell them but I don't know who it was. If I knew who it was, I probably wouldn't be so annoyed.

Happier than I should be?

Victorian police have arrested a known arsonist who lit one fire over there and there looking into whether he lit others. If you want to know how I feel, please refer to my earlier post about these fires.

Death Cab for Cutie.

Does anyone like this band? Cause they're coming to Perth very soon and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in going with me. If not, I have no problem going alone. I just thought I'd ask cause it's always nice to have company :)

See! I can be nice!

Don't read if you know what I'm like when I'm angry.

Police are questioning two guys about the Victorian fires. YES!!! I honestly hope they are arrested and jailed. I don't hope they are murdered in jail; that's an easy way out. I just hope they are anally reamed so badly that by the time they are released they have basically exploded to being inside out like an over cooked pie. Look up "anus flowers" on the net to see what I'm talking about. So much bum sex that it ruptures their insides and stuff starts hanging out like the worlds biggest and worst body piercing. Yeah. That would be awesome. Fucking pricks.

I'm curious.....

Is there anyone else out there who fell in love with the film Lady in the Water? I know many people hated it cause they thought it was boring but I thought it moved at the same pace as The Sixth Sense. I also know alot of people hated it cause in it M. Night played a character who changes the world and a film critic gets mauled by a monster but if you look past those things it is such a beautiful film. I mean, yeah people can dislike a film cause they dislike who made it but I hate Tom Cruise and it doesn't stop me liking many of his films. I just think Lady in the Water affected me cause it was reminiscent of many 1980's fantasies that I loved. It was one of those films that just inexplicably affected me. Did anyone else like it?

Fu**ing whiners!

I can't deal with some of the shit people whinge about. When you have things happen in your life that make you want to slit your own throat, it kinda puts things into perspective in a comparative sense.

One of my best friends of all time is in a wheelchair. He didn't get there recently. He's been there most of his life. And he is one of the most fun, spirited, inspiring people you could ever meet. He was one of the few important touchstones in my life when I was diagnosed with MS. He just recently came out of hospital after a FOUR MONTH STAY. Four months in a hospital room with hospital food and no way of having even little reliefs, like a glass of wine for instance. I won't go into why he was in hospital, only to say that it was due to complications from having to sit all the time. The words "infection" and "operations" fit in as well as "four months on his stomach". He was released just before xmas and has been out almost a month only to be recently told that the infection has returned and he'll have to go back to hospital.

Now, I know everyone has problems, but come on. Some of the smelly underwear that people bitch incessantly about just does not compare. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm sorry if it sometimes seems like I'm just venting and picking arguments when I'm on here. That's because I am. I'm venting because there are things I can do nothing about that I wish could. So when little things shit me, they're like an easy target. You know?

Things happen in life that really make you want to stop caring in general.

I'm sorry to hubby Grant about the mood I've been in of late. I didn't know what was wrong with me so I've been latching onto anything that gives me the shits even a little bit just to see if I could find the culprit. As usual, it was just me.

I found that what has been annoying me was my inability to plot my latest piece of writing. I didn't realise this was the reason cause I'm not familiar with how much writing can screw with your head if you take it seriously. I realised I hadn't felt like this since I was at Uni having to write essays. After putting the two together I now realise that I actually take my creative writing much more seriously than I first thought. I came to this conclusion after I managed to plot my story, after which my head cleared and my shoulders loosened (two dead give-aways that whatever was stressing me has left). Personal achievement is a violent oppressor.

I still have to write the thing but now that I have a plan to follow I'll hopefully stop writing myself into corners. And being a moody shit to live with ;)
